I feel like I just read a story about an alternate versions of Janie and Quinn. Tall busty red-red who loves shoes and knitting meets tall, wealthy, brooding man with ticking jaw. Not that I’m complaining. I LOVE the Knitting in the City series. There a some other similarities with the characters and plot, but it’s still different enough to enjoy. A certain Chicago resident’s cameo was a treat! I didn’t love the pacing of the story, but it was very well written as per usual.

I loved the characters! They were fun to get to know! The plot was cute. It started off as a great quick read which is exactly what I was looking for. Then once the two main characters get together the book takes a turn onto fifty shades of grey lane. I’m 51 so maybe young readers enjoy vulgar bedroom slang but for me it made the book a lot less “readable” as the sex scenes were jarring and out of place. Anyhow I would have really liked this book if the random sex scenes were less offensive,or,better yet, not there at all.

I loved everything about this book. One of the best slow burns I’ve ever read. Absolutely lovable strong leads, the payoff was everything and more. I just can’t recommend this book more! Oh I adore Abby and Rex! Rex is my kind of hero! And so so steamy, the connection and intimacy was so freaking earned in this book! The setup of these two and the early connections between them just really laid the foundation. READ this book people! 🔥❤️
Wonderful Beginning to a New Series!

What a wonderful distraction from the craziness of the coming holidays. My biggest problem with Penny Reid’s books is finding the time to read them. And that was the case with Homecoming King. Every time I had a moment I was opening my phone to read a little more. I love how Penny slowly reveals what life events have brought her characters to the point they are at in the book. I love learning their fears, quirks and then them coming to the realization they are worthy of love. Abby was such a delight to get to know. And discovering why she collects quilts was so endearing. My second biggest problem is finishing a Penny Reid book. I feel a little lost. It is like saying goodbye to someone I’ve discovered I really enjoy being around. But then I realize that I can reread the book anytime and know that I’ll enjoy it even more the second reading.

I’m biased because I will read anything Penny Reid writes but this book was great. There’s the amazing woman, the hot guy/pro-athlete, the best friend, super supportive boss, sneaky (can we trust him?) Cyrus, and Christmas, and of course knitting because where would we be without knitting. Loved it, but be warned you will not want to put this down. Oh and it is not all sunshine and rainbows but I don’t want to ruin it.
