This is the first book I have read by author Penny Reid, and it was one that did not disappoint. Admittedly I am not into physics and being a newbie of her books I did not know what I would expect. Her synopsis had me intrigued to try someone new. This is the story of Mona DaVinci and Abram Harris.

Mona would do anything for her family even though she not does like the idea. One week to cover for her identical twin sister (who is opposite of her in every way) until she can get her situations all sorted out. To pretend to be her in all aspects so that her identity will not be revealed. She is on locked down at her house where Abram is house sitting Mona's family home. Where he goes she must go. Irritated by the situation she has been put in she has no choice to follow until she can switch places with her sister.

As the days goes by the connection between the two of them starts growing into something more. Mona being a smart and up and coming physicist is always dissecting things all things physics and hypothesis theories causing her head and heart to play games on her. Abram (especially learning the stigma musicians are portrays); being not her typical encounters than other men has her body feeling things that she is not used too. His sweet and kind ways have her wanting more; however, her current predicament has her holding back.

Abram is falling hard and deep for her. She gives him mixed signals and is willing to wait until she is ready. He notices something is up but cannot pinpoint what is going on. Just when they he feels that progress is progressing in his favor we are left with a cliffhanger that will have you itching for the next book stat.

This book was filled with many angsty and intense moments. The back and forth will have you wanting and hoping for more. The titles of each chapter was a preview of what is expected and giving you a physics point of views when it comes to life. For a newbie of this author's works this was a good start to a new author and series.

Motion by Penny Reid is the first book in her three-part Laws of Physics series. A story of identical twin sisters that couldn't be more opposite in their personalities, of an aspiring musician and his reluctant smiles, and of the difference between perception and reality.

Mona is back home in Chicago pretending to be her twin instead of interviewing for her PhD and she has almost no idea how she got here. There was a phone call, a flight, a makeover to transform into her sister and now she is back at her childhood home slightly shell-shocked and not sure what to do. Especially when the the more than gorgeous Abram angrily greets her at the door...

Ending on a cliffhanger this book is not for anyone looking for a steamy romance with immediate gratification. This is a slow burn filled with obstacles, inner-monologues, internal battles waging for what is right and what is fair and learning they aren't always the same. This is a deeply involved story that slowly builds the characters, the background story, and the emotions of the characters as it goes. It pulls you in deeper and deeper with each sentence. I have loved every Penny Reid book I have read so far and, big surprise, this is no different. If you don't enjoy cliffhangers then you may want to wait until all three books are released but you still, absolutely, should read this. Enjoy!

I like this author and good story.
Witty, smart and interesting.
Could have been a standalone.
Not a fan of the Trilogy.

I knew it was a cliff hanger but it such a good cliff hanger, I don’t want to read anything else. Okay that’s not true but that’s how I feel. Penny Reid never disappoints

I love how Penny's characters are all so different and distinct. I love their unique thought patterns and quirks. I love that I always want more! Can't wait for more of Mona and Abram!

So I just finished this book about thirty seconds ago and my heart is in my throat. Holy smokes that was a doozy!!
Genius twin needs to pretend to be party girl sister and fool the ridiculously hot (and sweet and funny and smart) “babysitter”...what could possibly go wrong? I mean, seriously, I knew that we’d be left with a cliffy but this was a Cliffhanger with a capital C!!
Despite Mona’s eccentricities, I absolutely loved her. I found her so endearing. Abram, forget about it! He’s amazing. I’m smitten. The banter, the build, the butterflies, I was swooning.
Now that it’s over, I’m not exaggerating when I say that my chest is tight. I am so invested in this story and these people. I need answers and I need to know how things are going to play out. I’m (im)patiently waiting for the next installment. This is torture but I LOVE IT!!

I couldn’t put this book down. To the dismay of all other aspects of my life needing my attention (my husband, child, and job), I was absolutely enamored with Mona and Abram. Although I’m absolutely a wreck when it comes to understanding anything math or science related, I felt like my heart and mind beat in time with Mona’s and felt every emotion she felt throughout the book. This is the absolute joy of reading Penny Reid’s work. Can’t wait for more!
