Description

The poem mainly centers on the Greek hero Odysseus (known as Ulysses in Roman myths) and his journey home after the fall of Troy. It takes Odysseus ten years to reach Ithaca after the ten-year Trojan War. In his absence, it is assumed he has died, and his wife Penelope and son Telemachus must deal with a group of unruly suitors, the Mnesteres or Proci, who compete for Penelope's hand in marriage.

    I was inspired to read this book because of the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie.

    After reading, it makes sense why this book is such a classic. Although there is a lot of clutter you have to push through, there is an action packed and emotional story. It shows so much about Roman mythology and life in each and every book. As a Greek Mythology kid, it was really cool to see what feels like a true peek behind the inspiration of things such as Percy Jackson and Hercules.
