This book explores more into personal relationships that Leaphorn and Chee have separately and together. They each show their personal experiences and how they are stronger together in solving each mystery. Tony Hillerman is excellent at bringing them together from separate means and ways of investigating.

Navajo Detective Jim Chee is now working for Lt. Joe Leaphorns Special Investigations Office.Numerous homicides have occurred, but the actual killer has not initially been identified.Enviromental issues with a toxic waste dump inside a reservation mine. New romantic intrigue with both Chee and Leaphorn. Another excellent read in this series!!

Loved the characters and the story. Keeps you guessing until the end. Love this area of the country and the details on the Native American culture.

Hillerman’s characters are well developed and interesting. Good plot line that exposes one to the Indian culture of the Southwest. Just enough underlying sexual tension to keep you guessing.
