    There are few stories that reach beyond the constraints of the time in which they were written and places in which they were set. This is one of the best. And there is a good chance that any reader from any generation and walk of life can find something they can relate to in this book. Neither the characters or the events of their lives are one-dimensional, even from their points of view. There is depth and complexity which are defining characteristics of truth. Truth is timeless. When a story is built around elements that every generation can relate to and told truthfully, that story resonates. Truth and Resonance the beating heart of any great story and The Last Picture Show is a master class in both.
