After walking through the portal in the Tower of Swallows and narrowly escaping death, Ciri finds herself in a completely different world. . . an Elven world. Time does not seem to exist and there are no obvious borders or portals to cross back into her home world. She is trapped.

But this is the child of prophecy, and she will not be defeated. She knows she must escape to finally rejoin the Witcher and his companions—and also to conquer her worst nightmare. Leo Bonhart, the man who chased, wounded, and tortured Ciri, is still on her trail. And the world is still at war.

Reviews

  • Filled with unnecessary filler

I really enjoyed this series when I started it. After a couple books it changed so much it seemed like there was a new author. I found myself skipping more and more of the story. I refused to stop because I really wanted to know what happened. I’m about half way through this book. The book is so full of unnecessary story that I’ve skipped about 1/4 of it. Every time it skips to the historian student in the future, I skip it. Every time it skips to Ciri fast traveling for 1 page of useless info, I skip it. This kinda reminds me of that movie AI. It started out really cool. Then the director died half way through it, Spielberg took it over, the story completely changed, and it got really boring.

When I started the witcher saga I read a book a day, that changed when I read the tower of swallow. But I still wanted to finished the saga so I took a day off, but when I started this book something changed, as a true fan I regained the reading thrive I had for the other books.

This book in my opinion,is in my top 3 of the whole saga.
  • Somewhat confusing and all over the place.

The conclusion to the story of Ciri and the Witcher jumps all over the place with multiple confusing and difficult to follow threads, including some that build up then fizzle out like Ciri’s time in a parallel elven world. We hear little of the Witcher.
