REESE’S BOOK CLUB PICK | #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“This fast-paced read has everything you could want in a thriller: secret identities, a mysterious boss and a cat & mouse game that kept me guessing the whole way through.” —Reese Witherspoon

Evie Porter has everything a nice Southern girl could want: a doting boyfriend, a house with a white picket fence, a tight group of friends. The only catch: Evie Porter doesn’t exist.

The identity comes first: Evie Porter. Once she’s given a name and location by her mysterious boss, Mr. Smith, she learns everything there is to know about the town and the people in it. Then the mark: Ryan Sumner. The last piece of the puzzle is the job.

Evie isn’t privy to Mr. Smith’s real identity, but she knows this job isn't like the others. Ryan has gotten under her skin, and she’s starting to envision a different sort of life for herself. But Evie can’t make any mistakes—especially after what happened last time.

Evie Porter must stay one step ahead of her past while making sure there's still a future in front of her. The stakes couldn't be higher—but then, Evie has always liked a challenge. . . .

A fun, fast-paced read with engaging characters and plenty of satisfying plot twists. The story kept me guessing, and I’d love to see it adapted into a series—it has all the right elements for the screen.

Overall it was an okay book, kinda crazy with everything going back and forth and the end result was just the regular type of ending. Not sure how I felt about it
  • Lots of Twists, Very Little Likability

I typically enjoy stories like this with twists that you don’t always see coming. On that level, it worked for me. The problem was that virtually none of these characters were all that likable to me till the end of the book. Before that point and almost every chapter leading to it, I was rooting for all of them to get their comeuppance in some form or fashion. Also on a minor note, putting Reese’s Book Club on every single page was an asinine decision. Do we really need to see it on every page? Of course not.

The main character evie, basically goes “undercover” as a private investigator of some sort. Her most recent job involves getting to the bottom Of her current boyfriends not so legal business dealings. Her past and true identity however catches up with her and threatens to derail her plan/ job.

This is an okay read and not one of favorites. It was a little boring to me. I didn’t like the back and forth from present day to past day.

Usually I have nights where I’m too tired to even open my eBook. This book kept me 100% engaged and couldn’t wait to get back to it daily! I love Evie, Ryan and friends. I detested Mr. Smith. SPOILER ALERT: Stop here! But I never believed for a moment that Ryan was Mr. Smith.I was delighted when it turned out to be George. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter, page and word. I highly recommend it.

Loved this book. The story line, twists and turns, characters and the way written was very well done. Hope they make it a movie or mini series!
