    This book took me a while to read but I did manage to finish it at least. It promises a lot but fails to answer a lot of questions. The ending is not satisfying at all. At the end the main character does not really learn that much about the hole that is being investigating or the ‘turtles’ that keep showing up. I did like the main character a bunch and I liked the dialogue between the main characters. Still, this could have been so much better. It’s like it ends in mid story.
    Incomplete.

    It was a little confusing, it was good but I kinda expected more. It was good though, but it didn’t have any details on Alex’s past. So it was okay

    Paolini says it himself that this is not a complete novel and I should have taken that more seriously. After reading ALL of his other works, I was unsatisfied with this. I was expecting a lot more, even if not a complete novel. So much more to tell in this universe. I won’t reread this like I do with his other works.

    A bunch of unlikeable people go for a hike, make irrational decisions, act like children and when they finally arrive at the neat thing we’ve been suffering through the whole book to learn about, decide they won’t be able to understand it. The end.

    The book had a really interesting concept, but repetitive and predictable events made this book seem slow and almost disappointing.

    This overpriced novella is even shorter than it appears with all sorts of appendices, photos, THUD THUD THUD ... THUD, and blank pages. The word THUD appears about 500 times, each time in its own paragraph.

    There is really not much of a plot. The protagonist is grief-stricken and lets us know over and over for about a fifth of the book. Moreover, the protagonist is incompetent and irrational. The other three main characters have no redeeming features. I've enjoyed Paolini's books but this one was awful. Without much plot and without any sort of conclusion. It would not hurt to skip it.

    Very well written but ultimately had the same plot as Waiting for Godot. Not much of actual story, pretty predictable, and no idea what it has to do with Sea of Stars.

    I can tell (or hope?) this book is to be a precursor of the fun to come in the next, but the book itself felt, to me, super slow. The entire book centers around one mission, and has a very subdued non-climax as compared to the first book. Basically, this book feels like the first book to an entirely different series loosely set in the same universe. 4 stars because the writing is engaging and I loved getting more of the universe I fell in love with in the first book, but I’m sad it wasn’t faster paced. I’m hoping the next book is a double dose of Acuwake!
