I read the Haunting of Maddy Clare and in comparison (or even on it’s own merit) this book was terrible. I had to force myself to finish it. The storyline itself was interesting and I was hoping to get lost in the fantasy of the story and just enjoy it. But the relationship that seemed to be tossed in for some added seasoning really ruined the book for me. It took so much away from the book that I could not stand to keep going so I found I fast forwarded through the gush and mush and tried to salvage what I could of the book. A real shame as it had potential. I’m on the fence as to whether I’ll read her other book, Silence for the dead. Likely not.

I saw this book on the new release list and it sounded interesting. I read the description but there weren't any reviews yet. I downloaded the sample and let me tell you, I got 10 pages in and downloaded the rest of the book!

I could not put this book down! I read it in one sitting!!! The flow is good and fast paced, the author doesn't waste time on useless background or scene descriptions and it rises to a screeching crescendo that had me BEGGING for more!!!

The heroine is a delightful mix of mystery solving scholar, like a female Robert Langdon, (danger, conspiracy, and attempted murder included), and hopeless and idealistic romantic. You find yourself WANTING her to lay the ghost to rest, solve the murder mystery, and get the guy and this book leaves you wanting more of Jillian Leigh and her dashing Inspector and leaves you DYING to know if they ever have anything more substantial between them!

Download it! Read it! Love it! I cannot WAIT to see more from this author!!!
