My children and I hung on every word. The types and figures in these stories point to the self sacrificial example of our Saviour, and our struggle in this life to lay down self that we may follow in His steps. From the first book, my family agreed that the theme of the story could be none other than the words of our Lord Jesus when he said "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
Once again Andrew Peterson has me amazed

We own all of the books in this series and they are thoroughly enjoyable. We read them as a family. The kids are enthralled by the crazy creatures and colorful characters. As an adult these books awaken the little boy inside of me and inspire me to want to go on an adventure myself. As a fan of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis this book is a welcome addition to my collection.

Mr. Peterson certainly cannot be accused of unhappy fantasy. This book, along with being a well-written, solid read, is full of frivolity and deeply planted joy. Of course, serious subjects are broached, but the dark does not overwhelm the light. I sure appreciate that.

'Monster in the Hollows' is the best book (so far) in a series that deserves a wide readership.

My wife and I have followed Andrew Peterson's The Wingfeather Saga closely and recommended them to just about all of our friends, especially those with children. The stories are full of high adventure but also serve an appropriate amount of food for thought. I also happen to really appreciate Andrew's humor throughout the stories, and while the first book is almost what I'd classify as a "whimsical fantasy", the tone of the second and especially this (the third in the series) is weightier. The children are faced with hard decisions and plenty of suspicion in The Monster in the Hollows, and you get the feeling at the end of this book that they've worked hard for their victories.

I've been a fan of all things Andrew Peterson for many years. He's a gifted songwriter and singer, and his gift extends to storytelling. The third installment in "The Wingfeather Saga," The Monster in the Hollows continues the fun-to-read tale of Janner, Kalmar and Leeli. Besides wacky-fun characters and a quick-paced storyline, Peterson continues to delve into meaningful themes like family, good vs. evil, faithfulness, bravery, and what makes a monster a monster? Even fangs and a fearsome furry tail couldn't frighten me away from this book. I loved it, and so will you... Can't wait for the next one, Mr. Peterson.
