She has a powerful secret . . . with deadly consequences.

For years, Eon’s life has been focused on magical study and sword-work, with one goal: that he be chosen as a Dragoneye, an apprentice to one of the twelve energy dragons of good fortune.

But Eon has a dangerous secret. He is actually Eona, a sixteen-year-old girl who has been masquerading as a twelve-year-old boy. Females are forbidden to use Dragon Magic; the penalty is death.

When Eona’s secret threatens to come to light, she and her allies are plunged into grave danger and a struggle for the Imperial throne. Eona must find the strength and inner power to battle those who want to take her magic . . . and her life.

I had come across Eon by chance and read it out of curiosity. In my opinion the book was very interesting and kept me reading, never wanting to put the book down. It was exciting and at times intense. It also really fed my interest in Ancient China and such. I wasn't disappointed. I haven't had the chance to read the sequel yet, though I would have to refresh myself on Eon first because it's been over a year since I've read it.
  • Good but frustrating

Saw this book and had to read it!
The first half was very good.
I was frustrated with Eon's character flaws once things in the empire began to deteriorate. Eon was deceitful amidst characters that trusted and confided. I think things deteriorated too fast and with too much finality. I would like to have seen the next council meeting. I felt robbed of what I thought I was going to read about.
But even then, I couldn't put the book down.
Excitement and suspense, secrecy and lies.
Wish I could find the sequel on mp3 so I could listen as I travel.

I recently read Eon and it was AMAZING!!! I can't wait to read the second book. I hope that Eona is just as good as this book is.
