Description

The Practice of the Presence of God is a text compiled by Father Joseph de Beaufort of the wisdom and teachings of Brother Lawrence, a 17th century Carmelite monk. It is a collection of his letters, and records made, by other participants in them, of his conversations. A constant theme is the development of an awareness of the presence of God.

Had Brother Lawrence not been caught up in the trappings of the religious systems of the day, (many of which are still in effect today) I feel he would have been another Apostle Paul. God does not send sickness, nor are we suffering with God when we are sick. God is neither sick nor suffering, then how are we suffering with Him? Jesus said that He came to give us life and life more abundantly. However, his insistence of seeking the face of God on a constant basis, in everything that we do throughout the day, every day, is a truth that cannot be even the least bit understated.
