Austen’s novel achieves a remarkable balance, serving up barbed criticism of the obsession with money, status, and matrimony even as it draws us into a swoon-worthy love story. At its heart, Pride and Prejudice is a romantic comedy, and a darned great one at that. It’s so much fun to turn the pages and wonder about Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy: Will they or won’t they overcome their excessive pride and initial prejudices to make a happily-ever-after connection?

Not bad but not great. Very wordy. Put me right to sleep most of the time, which is what I wanted. Good for reading when you cannot sleep. Would recommend to anyone for helping with insomnia. Pretty funny also! :)
A lot of words and a solid ending

The ending was good, but it sure was a long way to get there and a whole bunch of words. Bless the humans who used to read in a time where numerosity of words was a valued trait in a book. it seems that this review requires some number of words until it will give me a blue check so I am voice dictating this and adding additional words such as it will give me this

After watching the movie a few times, I decided it was finally time I read the book. I will say, it’s pretty difficult to follow at first, with the language being so different than what we’re used to today. But once you’re in it, it starts to become normal, and is so worth it. It was such a great read, and, of course was way better than the movie in my opinion! Although I really wish volume 3 was a bit longer, but I can’t complain, it was fantastic!

Sometimes reviewers use the term, ‘timeless,’ to describe a work. Jane Austin’s novel from 1813 deserves such praise. For the most part the language from that period is still in common use, though there are some words, plot vehicles, and turns of phrase that date the novel. However, if one doesn’t know a particular word here or there then the general meaning can be understood from context, or the word can simply be looked up. The turns of phrase enhance the story rather than detracts while the plot vehicles provide glimpses into the day-to-day lives of people living in that place and time. The novel has details, twists and turns that make it highly entertaining and worth spending the time to read.
