More character development here and it was interestingly funny.. But now, the fleet continues. Great reading. I’m losing sleep because you can’t put the book down.. Enjoy everybody!

Easy read, shallow on every level, but I'm reading it. The authors portrayal of relationships is near Asperger's levels. The drama reminds me of the worst daytime soap operas I've ever been exposed to. It is poorly done pulp fiction.

This book, and the series itself, is an exciting read! The overall plot regarding the lost fleet is well-designed and perfectly developed. The characters are real flesh and blood, and their interactions and dialogue reveal deep insight and thoughtful lessons on life and living. I found myself sitting in the Captain's chair, betrayed with him, victorious with him, honor-bound and yet torn with conflicting emotions. The story is larger than the well-written words themselves, forcing the reader to decide for himself where the line of right and wrong is drawn. I can't wait to open the next book in the series and learn more about myself!

I've just finished the second in the Lost Fleet series--Fearless. Campbell's ability to hold your attention, and his ability to be consistent with the nuances of his sub-plots, is amazing. He's holding my attention the way Ian Douglas does--totally captivated; page after page. Keep writing Mr. Henry! Where's Hollywood--these plots make for great movies in today's digital graphics.

“Dauntless” starts with a rush and then settles down into the nuts and bolts of large-scale naval … I mean … space warfare. At first, it seems interesting, though a bit shallow.

However, “Fearless” and “Courageous” add nothing to the first novel. It’s obviously a one-trick concept: formatted battles with confusing geometrical formations and victory against all odds. The same character emotions over and over. A beauty (or curse?) of e-readers is the ability to search key phrases; in these novels the same sentences are repeated over and over. That’s lazy writing.

So, good beginning. Then, monotonous retread.

This is a well written book. Sci-Fi readers will enjoy the realism. You can believe this can really happen. The military buffs will like it just as much. Written by a man who knows his way around a ship. Excellent book.
