I protagonisti delle altre novelle pure loro si sentono estranei ad un mondo fatto di parole cerimoniali e abitudini, il che ne fa dei dispersi che vagano nel mondo. Ma poi tutti alla fine devono constatare che c’è poco da fare: la vita è solo una trama cerimoniale per tenere insieme qualcosa d’inconsistente, a cui però apparteniamo.
