This was one of the better Slow Horses novels I’ve read. Plenty of action and mystery. Unfortunately a couple of characters are lost but there’s also a wrap up of another character that was satisfying.

I love the Slow Horses books, but this one falls short. At their best, these are books driven by complex, eccentric characters, with Jackson Lamb being the straw that stirs the drink. In this one, Lamb is absent for much of it. Not sure why Herron departed from a winning formula, but it didn’t serve him well.
