This book was not only entertaining, but it was also a lesson in history….specifically the history of Cuba, Castro and Batista. It was well written and kept my interest throughout. I also loved the characters.

I enjoyed the book and the history of Cuba. Very telling and sad at the same time. The characters were interesting and complex. The struggles of every day life in Cuba is something we sometimes take for granted in the US.

What a wonderful story…on one hand, a romance, on the other, an eye opening account of life in Cuba. A story many do not know. Enjoyable reading with lots to ponder!

I left Cuba when I was 16, I’m 21 now. I’ve always feel intrigued by the thought of how life was before 1959. This book answer many of my questions. I cried a lot, because many of those feelings are still part of me, the love for my country, mi Cuba, mi Habana , the love for my father and grandmother that still live there(like Luis’), the love for my beloved childhood friend (like Ana). The writer did a great job portraying the feeling that Cubans in the exile an in the island feel, the old and new generations. I loved it!!!
