Description

Five years ago, Darius awoke to an empty bed. He's never forgotten Jordan, though, and now he wants to face the man—now a priest—who broke his heart.

Jordan has tried to put his sinful past behind him and focus on his duties as a clergyman. The only problem is that even half a decade later, he's haunted by his feelings for the man he wasn't supposed to love.

When Darius confronts Jordan, it's a disaster. But it might also be the beginning of the second chance both men desperately need…

This 11,000 word short story is based on The Father Project by Tooji, and written/sold with permission. All royalties from Just Hear Me fund a short film project being produced by Tooji and the author. Any surplus (or monies received after the film's production) will be donated to an LGBT charity of the author's choosing.

I was given a signed paperback copy of this novelette as a surprise gift from an author friend. She knows I'm just "mildly" obsessed with this song and video... my heart started racing and my hands were shaking when I saw it... LA Witt captured the dramatic intensity and raw power from the video and had it transferred onto a tangible product. This is an item my bookshelf will proudly display and keep safe for me for a very long time.

This is a micro-novelette, the author's interpretation of the music video THE FATHER PROJECT by Tooji. After being apart for five years, with no answers as to why we awoke to an empty bed, Darius seeks out Jordan. By now, Jordan has become a clergyman that truly believes his own sexuality is a sin, but stowed deeply away, he still harbors a love for Darius. Only one ally makes a cameo appearance, urging Darius to go to the church... again. The smattering of congregation do not hold a significant role in the plot. Although the written story is short, when combining it with it's implied history and the video, their chemistry is off-the-charts magnetic and intense. The plot really relies on the implied history to carry it through these two encounters that are detailed in JUST HEAR ME, since most of their inner turmoil stems from it. The conclusion brings an implied HEA, but is left open to further interpretation.
Overall, I'd recommend the read and the video, if for nothing other than supporting the project and cause in which it stands for. There's a powerful message to be heard, if you are just willing to listen.
