James Boswell was a Scottish lawyer, diarist, and author. He was born in n Edinburgh in 1740. He is best known for the biography he wrote of Samuel Johnson. James Boswell and Samuel Johnson met for the very first time in 1763. Boswell's long-lost journals was one of the major literary discoveries of the 20th century.
