The characters are fantastic and the story is great. As a veteran. It’s hard to read about bad soldiers, but I know that in reality there’s some bad seeds out there. Great job at showing that the good people will win.

Barbara Freethy never fails to deliver twists and turns from page 1 of her books, and this one doesn't fail in that regard. When Ryker (a former Army Ranger) shows up to a former team member's funeral he is in for a shock. While in the army he had had a one-night stand, and always regretted not knowing her name and has always thought about her. Enter Savannah, who had decided to enter the FBI. Savannah is the best friend of the wife of Ryker's friend. Grab your seat as you follow the adventures of Ryker and Savannah that deliver so many surprises along the way, with an even more surprising ending. Highly recommend.
  • The Perfect Balance of Action, Intrigue, and Romance

Critical Doubt is a masterful story that delivers the perfect balance of action, intrigue, and romance. I enjoyed the story of Savannah and Ryker with their wonderful chemistry. The action started at the beginning of the book and didn’t stop until the end. It had many unexpected twists and turns. I really like having the previous team members being involved in the current storyline. This is another extremely captivating and suspenseful book that I highly recommend. I hope there are many more books like this coming from Barbara Freethy in the future.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Critical Doubt is book 7 in Off The Grid: FBI series by Barbara Freethy and another awesome read in this series!! 5 years ago....Ryker Stone on leave overseas mistakes Savannah Kane as a cheerleader that’s been entertaining the troops and they have a one night fling, sharing no information except a hot steamy night! Fast forward 5 years later, they meet again at the funeral of Ryker’s teammate and Savannah’s best friend’s husband... What happens next takes you on a roller coaster ride of suspense, secrets, faking death, twists, turns and more questions than answers but oh what an ending!!

What happens when you run into a one night stand (literally) you haven’t seen in five years? A lot happens! Savanna Kane goes back to her hometown of Dobbs, Georgia to attend the funeral of her best friend Abby’s husband Paul. She has known that the mystery man she slept with was on Paul’s Army Ranger team from a picture she had seen two years before. Ryker Stone was blindsided by bumping into Savannah as he never even knew her name. After brief introductions, and an accident involving another Ranger team member after the funeral, Ryker and Savannah are linked as they try to find out what happened. Savannah’s FBI team members and Quantico friends also jump in to support and help. Barbara Freethy takes us on the journey with Savannah and Ryker as they try to get some answers as to what is happening to Ryker’s former team. Can they also overcome the one night stand to be more? They seem to have so much more in common than they expected. This author’s writing kept me riveted to the story that I could not put down. Definitely a 5 star read.
