Good book but not my favorite of Lisa s books. It seemed to drag on and then explode in the end with the finale.

Completely lost in this story! Loved the way she wove the tragic yet tender history of the Choctaw. Hoping she will continue letting us watch Dell’s life unfold! What a journey of the heart!!

A great stand alone book but even better with the rest of the series. I love how the characters from Tending Rises are brought to life one by one.

Good Story This is the story of 20 year old Dell’s sojourn to find her biological father and reconcile her inner feelings of rejection at being abandoned and unloved as a child. Dell was the victim of parental drug abuse and neglect.. Her mother died from a drug overdose when Dell was very young, and her biological father, possibly a Choctaw native American, moved on. She was adopted and raised by loving parents. Yet she harbored a deep yearning in her heart to find her biological father and discover her heritage. Author Lisa Wingate relates Dell’s search with feeling and incite into the damage that drug addiction and neglect can cause in a child’s life. The story could have been faster moving at times, and some of the occurrences strained credibility a little. More dramatic tension would have been nice as well. However, all in all it was a good story by a skilled writer. -- di pinto

Read the whole series, but it left me wanting more. The older Dell and her decisions. The coming together of her complete family.
