  • Good first book, wait for the show to finish first before reading

    The two later books miss the gravitas of the first. The ending seems a tad rushed and unearned. Then the epilogue absolutely bombs and nearly ruined the entire series.

    Book one is good. Book two and most of book three a waste of time. Show is much better. This could have all been condensed to one book just about Juliette and silo 18. The entire second book with Donald is a waste. Ending is obvious. This series will depress you it’s so dreary.

  • Fascinating, all too real, all too possible future

    The rare post-apocalyptic story that bothers to explain its particular apocalypse. The story is well-plotted with numerous surprising, but entirely plausible twists. I was inspired to read the books because of the TV series and enjoyed the books considerably. I’m very curious to see how the rest of the books are visualized.

    The coming of its apocalypse is particularly frightening and plausible, especially considering our current political environment.

    Overall, well-told and constructed. There is some strong writing here, although some flaws, too. I thought Howey took some shortcuts and made a couple of decisions with characters that weren’t completely satisfying. I understand why he chose the ending he did, but I found it one of the weaker parts of the overall plot.

    After seeing Apple’s Silo series I just had to read the book! As busy as I am I read the books as much as I could. I finally bought the audio books and continued from there and loved every bit. If you like survival, conspiracies, and just craziness you’ll love this book as much as I did.

    Was introduced to this series by the Apple TV+ show and decided to read the books. So glad I did. Really great series with great characters and an awesome story that, at least for me, was not predictable. So it made it interesting up until the very last chapter.

    I bought the book series out of curiosity after watching Season 1 of Silo on Apple TV+, and am so glad I did. Excellent writing that expands on works that TV just cannot cover. I’m a fan of post apocalyptic fiction, especially immersive, long form ones. This gem kept me guessing and on tenterhooks to see what path it would take and how the twists would turn.
